This month we have a special preview of the UK Open Memory Championships that will take place at Simpsons-in-the-Strand, 100 Strand, London on 16-17 August. Plus the regular Mind Map tip and quote of the month.
This month instead of a tip, I thought I would share a Mind Map with you that I did of Tony Buzan’s full day seminar at Savoy Place, London last month. Click here.

"It's a poor sort of memory that only works backward."
Lewis Carroll (1832 - 1898)
Note – Tony Buzan explains that creativity is the same as memory but projected into the future.
This year’s event at Simpsons-in-the-Strand is the biggest and most international tournament outside the World Championships with competitors registered from Bulgaria, China, Demark, Germany, India, Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Sweden in addition to the UK entrants. Questions will be available in six languages!
More details here.
An innovation this year is to split the tournament over two mornings and use Saturday afternoon for a series of public seminars on memory improvement. These will be held in the Strand Palace Hotel conference centre, opposite Simpsons. The seminar programme is a follows:
12:45 Holiday Memories – Dominic O’Brien (8 times Word Memory Champion)
1:45 Demonstration of the sport of Speed Stacking – Ron Parker
2:15 How to Use Memory Techniques in Everyday Life - Phil Chambers
3:15 Master Your Memory – Tony Buzan (Learning guru and author)
4:15 Results of the 1st day’s competition.
4:30 Panel Q&A session – Tony Buzan, Dominic O’Brien, Phil Chambers
We also have a Gala Awards Dinner on the evening of Monday 18th in association with 6th Howard Staunton Memorial Chess Tournament that is running in parallel to the Memory Championships. To download the press release for the UK Open in PDF format click here.
