July's Quote of the Month

"You should always be taking pictures,
if not with a camera then with your mind.
Memories you capture on purpose are always
more vivid than the ones you pick up by accident."

~ Isaac Marion (American writer), Warm Bodies

[My course is all about how to capture memories on purpose and for practical applications]

Mind Map Top Tip of the Month

Make sure that you review your Mind Map 10 minutes after first creating it. Psychological research has shown that we forget 80% or the detail of anything we pay attention to (reading a book, watching a presentation, even creating a Mind Map) within 24 hours. So if you leave it a day before reviewing, you are having to re-learn most of the information and will struggle to re-create all the associations. By doing the first review while the memory is still fresh, you reinforce the mental connections and the memory takes longer to decay.

My new Memory Course is launched. Although it is just over two months until the actual training days I am very heavily involved in marketing it. If you would like to attend you should book early as there are only 15 places available in each location.

Ben Pridmore’s ‘Friendly Memory’ Championships takes place at Attenborough Nature Reserve, Nottingham on 26th July. This is always one of the more fun and good-natured events in the memory calendar.

The first round of the Schools Memory Championships is nearing Completion. The top performing students will go through to the televised final. If you live within commuting distance of London and would like to be involved in marking papers please email me. Full training will be provided.

That's all for this month. Look out for the next edition in August.

Best Wishes
