what lies before us
are but tiny maters compared
to what lies within us."

TONY BUZAN – The man who introduced the world to Mind Maps
Tony Buzan has written 120 books translated in to 40 languages and worked with a very wide range of people including chief executives of major corporations, governments and even Michael Jackson! People sometimes ask me what he is really like. If you are curious, this question and far more are answered in the new authorised biography of Tony written by his good friend, Raymond Keene OBE, chess grandmaster.
The book takes you on a journey from Tony’s first memories aged two to his seventy-first birthday charting the main influences on his life, many of which are in Tony’s own words. As you would expect from a polymath the book also explains Mind Mapping, poetry, creativity, memory, IQ and art. In addition to Tony and Ray’s words there are also contributions from many others from his late mother, Jean Buzan, to royalty, celebrities and academics. I was also able to make my own modest contribution.
Last Sunday, 2nd June, I was invited to Phyllis Court Club, Henley-on-Thames for a combined book launch and birthday party for Tony. It was a beautiful sunny day in idyllic surroundings with a great many interesting, engaging and charming people form as far afield as Australia, Ukraine and South Africa. The day started watching a pageant of boats on the river Thames, not on in honour of Tony, but the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. We were then treated to a buffet lunch, speeches and a mammoth book signing session. In the evening there was an exclusive dinner with champagne, birthday cake, opening of presents and great conversation.
You can purchase Tony Buzan’s book as a paperback or Kindle download here.
That’s it for this month. I’ll be back in touch with the next newsletter in early July.
